Blink One

Every day begins with new promise. What will you do with that promise? Where will you take it? Who will you talk to? What will you learn? How will you grow? Conversely, where will the day take you?

In 2007, with questions such as these in mind, I decided to document the very first sight of each day for thirty days. From May 29 until June 27 of that year I kept a camera next to my bed. Each day during that time, immediately after waking up I would grab my camera and take a photo that captured my first sight of each day as authentically as possible. During that time, the project documented my travels to Las Vegas, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal, and back to Edmonton.

I called the project Blink One as an ode to the very first, embryonic blink of the day.
